Combat, Dialogue and Chapter update

Hi all,

Just thought I'd post an update on some things that are being developed with the biggest being the new addition of combat. The combat consists of a turn based interaction, you vs the opponent.

Above, the combat scene. The camera fades into this new scene and presents you against the enemy. As a player you can select an items from your inventory. Once selected the input 'pulse' bar is displayed showing the two target hit points you need to aim for. If you land both then you carry out the attack action, if not then it registers a miss.

With your turn completed, you then have to defend. Again, the pulse bar is displayed with one target hit point shown. If you land this target then you are successful in your defence, if you miss then the enemy plays out their attack animation and deals a blow.

Another development addition is dialogue with NPC's.

As the conversation unfolds you will be given the chance to make a choice allowing for branching narrative. The above screen has been taken from Chapter 2, once inside ...

... and another stair well area from Chapter 2 also.  In terms of development of the chapters, chapter 2 is complete and just in the refinement, tweaking stages with work beginning on chapter 3. Its been a bit slow going as the new systems have been developed but it feels like the main bulk of systems are now in place to allow the rest of the chapters to be built.

Stay tuned!

hi Jon,

All sounds great! I tried to contact you via Twitter but not sure if it made it through - I've been following the development of Nascent Prophecy for some time and would love to chat to you about music - I've already scored some gameplay for you to have a look at if you're interested and would like to hear how I'd approach it.

You can get in touch with me at or on Twitter @MartynAudio if you'd like to discuss! If not, no worries, and I look forward to seeing how the game develops!

Hi Martyn,

Thank you kindly for putting that together, very cool. For the time development has been slowed down so music is on the back burner for the time being.

Again thank you for taking the time and effort to put that together :)

Hi Jon,

Not a problem, thanks for getting back to me and cheers for checking it out :)

All the best with development!
